Listed Private Capital (LPeC), the international group that represents firms in the listed private capital markets, has announced the appointment of Deborah Botwood Smith as its Chief Executive. Deborah was Director of External Relations and Director of Marketing at the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME), the trade body for banks operating in Europe’s wholesale financial markets. Before that she was a Managing Director at alternative investment firm Investcorp, where she had global responsibility for corporate communications and stakeholder engagement for the firm’s private equity, hedge funds and real estate investment. Previously, she was Director of Group Corporate Communications at Coutts NatWest Group and Head of Corporate Relations, Europe, Middle East, Africa at Visa International.
Mark Florman, LPeC Chairman, commented, "Deborah has a track record in building understanding and engagement, particularly in the financial sector. Her experience includes leadership roles in corporate communications, stakeholder management, public policy and commercial activities. Deborah is particularly well qualified to support LPeC's ambitions and I am delighted she’s joining us.”
Deborah Botwood Smith said, “LPeC has a clear and relevant vision at an exciting time. I’m looking forward to working with LPeC members to champion the benefits of listed private capital and encourage further investment in this asset class.”
Deborah was part of the start up team at civil society group UK-EU Open Policy Ltd (Best for Britain), which developed over two years into a significant campaigning force in the debate on the UK’s role in Europe. She is currently on the Board of Trustees of disability charity ADD International, of the Andan Foundation, a foundation leading private sector initiatives to develop sustainable solutions for refugees, and of the Global Media Campaign to end FGM.
